One of the national longest running and respected production events, Last Of The Record Buyers*, makes its return to the Soundset 2011 Tent!! Once again the event is made up of multiple layers to keep it entertaining and interesting...
1)Beat Showcase: We've assembled an impressive collection of local and world renown producers to share some of their latest beat creations: Evidence, Paten Locke, Void Pedal, King Karnov, Lazerbeak & Brandon Allday.
2)Sample Challenge: Approx 3 weeks ago we did a special selection for some key producers and gave them each 2 challenges to complete in time to unveil at Soundset! First up, they each have to come up with a exclusive remix to Atmosphere's "Millennium Dodo" (off "The Family Sign"). Secondly, we put a bunch of TV Show Theme names in a hat and each producer had to draw for which one they would have to use to craft a original beat from. Here's our 5 producers and how that challenge played out:
3)Exile will bring the LRB showcase to a close! Exile has been flexing his skills as a producer since the mid/late 90s. Early projects include his work with Aloe Blacc in the group Emanon. Since then he's remained busy crafting beats for an impressive list of artists; Ghostface, Kardinall Offishall, Mobb Deep, Jurassic 5, Blu, Fashawn, Rakaa, and most recently "Evolve" on Pharoahe Monch's latest album, "W.A.R.". He's also built quite the reputation as a soloist, or rather, his duets with his MPC, including his "Radio" album and, perhaps most notably, for his live MPC performances, which he'll be showcasing this year at Soundset.
Here's a great video: Exile-Population Control Remix!!
