Grieves Interview Part 1 (of 2)

October 21, 2010 1 min read

Grieves has the necessary tools needed for this challenging industry; focused vision, child-like enthusiasm, driving ambition and a range of talents that are evolving at a rather impressive rate.

There's been more than a few times that I have walked by Siddiq's, RSE CEO, office and heard a song that caught my attention and been so intrigued I had to ask, with my own "child-like" interest, "What's That?". The answer several times has been, "New Grieves...".

The amount of growth he has shown on each record has been substantial, reminiscent of the P.O.S transition from "Ipecac Neat" to "Audition" to "Never Better". Making it an exciting time with Grieves & Budo hard at work on the upcoming Rhymesayersalbum, Together Apart. Yet, they are still not slowing their pace and made time to tour with Atmosphere, as well as their own headline dates. With that momentum in full swing, it seemed like a perfect time to talk to Grieves about his history and where he is going next.

Here's part one of a two-part interview shot at their sold out, 7th Street Entry headlining show. Check back tomorrow for Part two, complete with some live performance footage from the show!
